The European Landscape Convention The European Landscape Convention of the Council of Europe promotes the protection, management and planning of the landscapes and organises international co-operation on landscape issues. Terms used in the Convention are defined to ensure that they are interpreted in the same way: landscape, landscape policy, landscape quality objective, landscape protection, management and planning.

The ELC provides an integrated, holistic approach and international context for landscape, under the headline banner that "All Landscapes Matter".
